Our 2024 Luminus is zingy, refreshing and bright, offering a fresh and lively character due to the judicious use of French oak. The wine opens with a vibrant and aromatic nose, led by ethereal notes of candied Meyer lemon, honeysuckle, and white blossoms. On the palate, bright citrus, verbena, white nectarine and tart pineapple lead, unfolding alongside subtle hints of beeswax, linen and lanolin, adding complexity and grace. A saline edge—classic to Oak Knoll—adds complexity and lift, while bâttonage lends a supple richness in mouthfeel and texture with lemon crème and a whisper of meringue creaminess. The absence of malolactic fermentation allows the wine to maintain its crispness and purity, highlighting the cooler Oak Knoll appellation, which provides a distinctive acid profile. The mid-palate is elegant and lithe, while the finish is dry, pithy, and persistent, echoing citrus oil and refined minerality with a touch of white pepper spice. A beautifully balanced Chardonnay, uniting freshness, texture, and finesse.
