A National and State Historic Property

The Historic Beringer Vineyards

The Beringer estate provides a unique glimpse into Napa Valley's past. Graced with stately 19th century architecture and verdant gardens, Beringer is not only one of the most beautiful properties in California's wine country, but as the longest continuously operating winery in Napa, it's also one of the most historic. The entire estate was designated a Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Hudson House

Built in 1848 by Gold Rush settler David Hudson, the Hudson House became the family home of Jacob Beringer after he and his brother Frederick purchased the estate in 1875. In 1883, the house was relocated about 200 feet to make room for Frederick’s grand Rhine House. Jacob raised six children here, and the home remained in the Beringer family until 1971. Today, the Hudson House continues to serve as a centerpiece of hospitality on the estate, surrounded by the towering redwoods Jacob planted more than a century ago.

Hudson House Legacy

Wine, Food & Community

Beyond its role in Beringer’s family history, the Hudson House has been a hub of Napa Valley’s culinary innovation. It hosted the School for American Chefs founded in 1990 by renowned chef Madeleine Kamman, who trained professionals in both classical French techniques and terroir-driven cuisine. Later, Beringer launched the Master Series on Food and Wine in 2001, bringing icons such as Thomas Keller, Julia Child, and Cindy Pawlcyn to the estate, helping shape the farm-to-table movement. Today, the Hudson House remains a vibrant gathering place, hosting wine club events, cooking classes, weddings, and seasonal celebrations that honor its enduring legacy.

The Hudson House Today

Today, the Hudson House continues to shine as an elegant and versatile event venue. Original to the Beringer property, the house is prized for its high ceilings, French doors, wood-burning fireplace, and wraparound porch, offering both historic charm and modern comforts for catered gatherings.

Set against the backdrop of towering redwood groves and landscaped gardens, the Hudson House and its adjoining grove are perfect settings for picnics, intimate receptions, and weddings, accommodating both indoor and outdoor celebrations.

Guests can also enjoy cooking classes and other culinary gatherings here during select events, while the space remains a centerpiece for hospitality and memorable experiences at Beringer.
