Our winemakers craft Winery Exclusive wines to honor our winery heritage as well as to highlight our own viticultural explorations. Each of the wines in this collection are produced in limited quantities, showcasing a vineyard, varietal or growing region. Styled to be enjoyed upon release, these unique offerings may vary by vintage and reflect the quality, history and winemaking expertise that Beringer has been known for since 1876.
Oak spice and dark fruit flavors come together in this fabulous Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. On the nose, dark floral flavors of violets, fleshy notes of currant, and oak spice waft out of the glass. Upon first sip, the dark fruit flavors ring true with plum, currant, and blackberry notes resting atop deeper notes of dried cherry and mocha. The tannins are robust and help to support the fruit flavors. The finish is long, and satisfying. This wine can be drank now, or will reward those who cellar for up to 10 years.
The 2017 vintage in the Napa Valley was smaller yielding but high in quality. The region enjoyed much needed rain during the winter months ending the drought. A short period of warmer than usual temperatures during Labor Day weekend accelerated harvest for early ripening grapes varieties, resulting in an intense and, at times, unpredictable harvest. Though yields were lower than usual, the wines show exceptional flavor intensity and conditions were perfect for producing a Cabernet with beautiful fruit as well as tremendous concentration of flavors, highly saturated color, and layers of complexity.
Vineyard lots are carefully separated to allow each lot to be evaluated for inclusion in these limited release wines. Individual lots are evaluated or specific flavor profiles before blending and aging. This wine was 100% barrel aged for nearly two years in French oak.
