They are slightly oversized, allowing players to take in the clever nods to Beringer iconography, including the historic Rhine House depicted on the Joker card, the queens holding grapes, and kings holding a Beringer bottle. Beringer Vineyards gathered friends of both brands on Tuesday, August 1 at Cynthia Rowley’s flagship studio in Manhattan to celebrate the introduction of the limited-edition cards. The two brands introduced the partnership and card deck and raised a glass to the synergies between fashion, wine and play.
Guests enjoyed a selection of “wild & refined” food and wine pairings, which included:
Beringer 2021 Private Reserve Napa Valley Chardonnay, whose aromas of citrus, lemon curd, and tropical flavors of juicy white nectarine, yellow peach, and grilled pineapple paired nicely with mango crab with chili and Thai basil; seared tuna niçoise; and smoked tofu & vegetable Vietnamese summer rolls
Beringer 2020 Reserve Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon’s concentrated flavors of black currant, blackberries and cassis, and notes of warm spices, vanilla and mocha paired well with Jerk chicken skewers
Beringer Vineyards 2018 Private Reserve Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits complex layers of wild fruits and cocoa, interwoven with full-bodied ripe tannins that create a mouthwatering character that complemented the Cremini mushrooms stuffed with chevre and chives, and beef carpaccio crostini with white truffle, arugula and Parmesan.
As guests sipped, nibbled, and mingled, they were blown away by the magic of Hebah Sahibzada, who entertained with card tricks using the Cynthia Rowley x Beringer Vineyards Wild & Refined Playing Cards, illusionism with the Beringer corks and bottles, and more.
Meet Cynthia Rowley
Cynthia Rowley began her career in fashion while studying at the Art Institute of Chicago (where she had every intention of becoming a painter). After graduation, she took what little seed money she had and moved to NYC to start her eponymous fashion brand. Whether she’s exploring on a far-flung getaway, surfing secret spots in exotic destinations, or scuba-diving in an arctic glacier, it’s safe to say the designer is known to take risks. It’s this unparalleled sense of adventure that effortlessly translates into the spirit of the brand through a playful assortment of pretty dresses, beachy separates, and whimsical homeware.
Cynthia Rowley has gone on to win numerous accolades including a CFDA Award and Designer of the Year at the American Image Awards. She is also a best-selling author and has appeared on numerous television shows.
