This is built to be a “grillin” wine, perfect with BBQ, ready to stand up to the more intense flavors of roasted meats and stews. Medium-bodied and juicy, the blend shows off firm tannins, accented by ripe plum, cocoa and a slightly tart but seductive mouthfeel.

Camatta Hills is a 600-acre vineyard nestled among the rolling hills near the town of Paso Robles. The Cuesta Ridge coastal mountain range to the west protects the vineyard, allowing for even ripening with hot daytime temperatures balanced by cooling Pacific Ocean breezes and maritime fog in the evenings. In fact, Paso Robles has the highest diurnal range of any wine region in California - up to 50ºͦF - which provides Paso's trademark acidity. Camatta'sincredibly chalky limestone soils lend the grapes their most distinctive characteristics. Restrictive soils and small canopies create vines that must stress themselves to reach moisture and nutrients, resulting in great flavor and tannin development.

Surprisingly plush and creamy, aromas and flavors of tart citrus lead with hints of white pear, delicious apple and a bit of lemon meringue and toasted almonds. Balanced, with moderate acidity, the brightness of the Chardonnay fruit shines through.

Beringer’s Chardonnay vineyards span several sub-appellations in southern Napa Valley, where fog from the San Pablo Bay works its way north most afternoons during the growing season, cooling the vineyards and allowing for a longer maturation period. The majority of the 2016 blend comes from our Gamble Ranch in Oakville, as well as Big Ranch and Los Carneros Stanly vineyards. These vineyards produce Chardonnays with layers of fine fruit flavors and crisp natural acidity.

Beringer 2017 Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

This Cabernet is set each vintage as a Bordeaux blend, with soft and silky tannins and a plush, full mouth-feel setting it up for immediate enjoyment, although it’s built to age and develop further complexity. Aromas of dried herbs, cedar, clove and lavender join flavors of dark red fruit led by figs, black cherry, currants, boysenberry, huckleberry, raspberr, and evident oak spice are joined with more traditional Knights Valley tones of black olive, wild sage and mocha chocolate. Fine acidity and balance with an elegant structure lead to a lingering, memorable finish.

Beringer Vineyards has owned and farmed its Knights Valley vineyards since the mid-1960’s, when the Beringer family recognized that the cobbled alluvial soils were a great place to grow high quality wine grapes. The Knights Valley designation was first used on a Beringer label in 1974. Beringer was instrumental in garnering official recognition for the area in 1983 as a premier wine growing region in the form of its own American Viticulture Area (AVA) designation.
