Tasting Notes

A lovely green tint hints at the crisp, refreshing aromas and flavors led by ripe summer pear, figs, citrus zest, especially lime and a tropical note of kiwi. A hint of allspice with a solid acid backbone frames the off-dry sweetness, balanced by a lingering tartness, medium-weight and a lasting finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or to complement richly sauced pastas, salads and cheese courses led by gruyere and brie.

Vineyard Notes

In some recent vintages, sourcing for Beringer’s Napa Valley Riesling has principally come from two exceptional vineyards, the Gamble Ranch in Oakville and, just slightly further south, the Beringer Vineyard in Yountville.

Vintage Notes

High quality with lower than average yields was the standard for this growing season. The year began with abundant rainfall. Spring weather was mild, resulting in extended flowering in some areas with little shatter. Vines were vigorous thanks to the winter rains. A freak hail storm passed through quickly in June causing isolated damage. Three heat events, including one over Labor Day weekend, kicked harvest into high gear, dehydrating some grapes by early September. Cool weather arrived immediately afterward, allowing sugar levels to return to normal.

Winemaking Notes

To highlight freshness, the fruit moves directly to press and is fermented in small stainless tanks, without malolactic fermentation. The wine rests on the lees for one month to gather richness prior to light fining and filtering for clarification. In your glass is a pure fruit expression.
