2012 Beringer Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points - Wine Advocate

"Revealing the great blending skills of Beringer’s winemaking team, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is a winner. Having purchased Private Reserves for many years, I can attest that they age incredibly well. The 1991, one of the great successes of that vintage, is still aging beautifully at nearly 25 years of age. The sensational 2012 (10,000 cases) boasts an opaque purple color along with abundant aromas of charcoal, burning embers, crme de cassis, chocolate, blackberries and licorice. The long, complex, compelling, full-bodied texture along with terrific purity and a savory, rich mouthfeel result in a classic, quintessential Napa Cabernet Sauvignon to drink now and over the next 20-25 years." - Robert Parker, October 2014

2012 Chabot Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

94 Points - Vinous

"Dark, sumptuous and racy, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Chabot Vineyard is all about texture. This is one of the more voluptuous wines in the Beringer range. As such, it will drink nicely right out of the gate. The radiant, expressive finish is striking in its immediacy, but there is plenty of finesse and nuance here as well." - Antonio Galloni

2012 Steinhauer Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon

91 Points - Vinous

Beringer’s Steinhauer Ranch, renamed in 2003 to honor the winery’s long-time vineyard manager, Bob Steinhauer,  lies just northeast of the town of Angwin, at about 1800 feet elevation.  Its soil is volcanic with a richly red color and the texture is friable and loose.  When Beringer first planted the vineyard, the distinctive character of the grapes was immediately evident, and it was selected as a regular part of the Private Reserve blend beginning in the 1993 vintage.  Robust tannins and an earthy finish make this a superlative display of Howell Mountain fruit. The 2012 Steinhauer was harvested October 21st and  was aged for 18 months in 93% new French oak barrels.
