Robert Parker Beringer

2013 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

97 pts- Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

“One of the great efforts of recent years, and not surprisingly so, is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve, a blend of 81% from Howell Mountain, 11% from St. Helena and the rest Calistoga and Mount Veeder. It is a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot aged 20 months in 84% new French oak. At 15.2% natural alcohol, this is a big boy, but also classic Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with crème de cassis, graphite, licorice, and a touch of spicy oak. Winemaker Laurie Hook, who has since departed as winemaker, really hit a home run with this beauty. The wine could benefit from 7-10 years cellaring and probably last 30 to 40. When all is said and done, this is an instant classic, the wine full-bodied with oodles of crème de cassis, pen ink, graphite and baking spices. It is multi-dimensional, layered, and one of the all-time great Beringer Private Reserves – and there have been many.” March, 2016

Vinous Beringer

2013 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

94 pts- Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

“Beringer’s flagship 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is mostly Howell Mountain fruit.  Rich and seamless on the palate, the 2014 possesses striking depth, along with scents of black cherry, chocolate, menthol and spices.  Interestingly, the Private Reserve is more accessible than some of the single-vineyard Cabernets.  Accordingly, it will drink well with minimal cellaring.” October, 2016

James Suckling Beringer

2015 Private Reserve Chardonnay

96 pts- James Suckling

"A dense and beautiful chardonnay with the focus and presence you expect in a top white from Napa. Full body, yet polished and formed with beautiful ripe fruit, lemon and mineral character. Hints of mineral, toasted oak and caramel. Drink or age. One for the cellar.” March, 2017

Vinous Beringer

2015 Private Reserve Chardonnay

92 pts- Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

"The 2015 Chardonnay Private Reserve presents all of the notes that are so typical of this wine. Butter, tropical fruit, vanillin and sweet French oak are all pushed forward. Ample, creamy and expressive, the 2015 is a prototypical California barrel fermented Chardonnay.” December, 2016

Wine Enthusiast Beringer

2015 Private Reserve Chardonnay

92 pts- James Laube, Wine Spectator

"Beautifully crafted, rich and layered, with tiers of smoky oak, buttery fig and tangerine, showing touches of fig and melon. Adds up to a delightfully lingering aftertaste. Drink now through 2020.” January, 2017

James Suckling Beringer

2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

92 pts- James Suckling

"Lots of ripe fruit to this cab with dried berries, cherries, currants and chocolate undertones. Full and powerful, yet there's a freshness and firmness to it all. Drink in 2021, but very approachable now in a fruit-forward way.”

Wine Enthusiast Beringer

2014 Quantum Red Wine, Napa Valley

91 pts- Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast

"This would be a straightforward Bordeaux red blend if not for the 5% Petite Sirah within. Together, it’s 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec as well, sourced from Howell Mountain and valley floor sites. Dusty and herbal, the wine is thick and sizably tannic, with dense black fruit, leather and coffee.” June, 2017

Vinous Beringer

2014 Knights Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

91 pts- Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley Reserve is a big wine. Black cherry, gravel, smoke, licorice and cured meats blast into the huge finish as the Reserve shows off its powerful, assertive personality. The Reserve needs at least a few years for the massive, forbidding tannins to soften, but it is promising.” December, 2016

Vinous Beringer

2015 Luminus Chardonnay, Oak Knoll District, Napa Valley

93 pts- Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

"The 2015 Chardonnay Luminus is terrific in this vintage. Lemon peel, white flowers, mint and white pepper are front and center. The decision to partially block the malolactic fermentation results in a Chardonnay endowed with striking nuance and energy. All the elements fall into place effortlessly.” December, 2016

Wine Enthusiast Beringer

2015 Luminus Chardonnay, Oak Knoll District, Napa Valley

93 pts- Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast

"Heady oak aromas lead the nose of this silky, rich wine sourced from a cool site on Beringer’s own Big Ranch vineyard at the southern end of the valley. Golden honey notes add to its luxurious nature, contrasting the linear infusion of tart lemon zest, orange peel and nutty spice flavors.”

Vinous Beringer

2014 Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

89 pts- Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

"Beringer's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley is a classic Knights Valley wine built on power, mineral-drenched energy and savory overtones. Super-ripe dark black fruit, raspberry jam, smoke, tobacco, incense, gravel, asphalt and licorice are all pushed forward. The Knights Valley tannins are present, but the straight Cabernet is naturally more accessible than the Reserve.” December, 2016

Vinous Beringer

2014 Waymaker Red Wine, Paso Robles

90 pts- Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

"The 2014 Waymaker, a Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah based blend, is absolutely delicious. Dark red cherry, mocha, chocolate, licorice and dark spices give the 2014 much of its dark, brooding personality. It will appeal most to readers who enjoy flamboyant reds.” December, 2016

James Suckling Beringer

2015 Napa Valley Chardonnay

92 pts- James Suckling

"Plenty of sliced apple, lemon and stone aromas follows through to a full body, layers of fruit and lots of cream and cooked apple. Phenolic tension too. Intense finish.” March, 2017

Founders' Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

50 Wines Your Can Always Trust- Food & Wine

"This historic winery makes arguably the broadest collection of acclaimed wines in California. Its Private Reserve has been a benchmark for Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon since 1976. The much more affordable Founder’s Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is also impressive: a velvety, generous, cassis-driven red.”
