The Bancroft Cabernet Sauvignon's forward fruit demonstrates classic Cabernet flavors of ripe, sweet black plums and black cherries with hints of cola berry, mint, milk chocolate and pepper, all nicely framed by brown spices and finely integrated tannins. - Winemaster, Ed Sbragia
Wine Advocate | Robert Parker | December 2008 "The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Quarry Vineyard is complete and fuller-bodied with deeper, bluer, blacker fruits, more complete textures, and very long finishes. Possesses 15-20 years of aging potential."
The Quarry Cabernet showcases Rutherford Cabernet qualities, with its signature dusty and earthy characteristics. Mouthwatering juicy red plum and raspberry aromas and flavors are layered with hints of toasty oak, dried herbs, cola and sarsaparilla, all of which are nicely framed by round tannins. - Winemaster, Ed Sbragia
Medium ruby. Black cherry, ripe raspberry, menthol, minerals and flowers on the nose. Tight and rather lean on entry, then juicy and cool in the middle palate, with less sweetness and more of an herbal character than the St. Helena Home Vineyard bottling. I find these tannins slightly tough.
“The 2006 Napa Valley Merlot is an aromatic, inviting wine from the start. This wine is brimming with plum, blackberry and sweet vanilla aromas. The flavors are equally rich – I get black cherry, bittersweet chocolate and a hint of smoke. The tannins are dense, and the finish is supple despite the heft and complexity of the wine overall.” – Winemaker, Laurie Hook
The 2008 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is evocative of the rich terroir of Napa Valley, yet a wine that I find to be immediately approachable and appealing. Forward berry aromas are complemented by toasty oak and spice components. On the palate, flavors of baked berries are highlighted by a round, fleshy mouthfeel and a slightly savory note in the finish.
