92 pts. Vinous - "A dark, powerful wine, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley Reserve shows the more virile side of the appellation. Black cherries, lavender, smoke, licorice and spices open up in the glass." - Antonio Galloni, October 2015
Winemaker Laurie Hook has worked the Knights Valley vineyards for two decades, watching the vineyards evolve and noting which blocks and rows are particularly unique. Using fruit from those prized blocks, Laurie has crafted the Knights Valley Reserve Cabernet, which provides the purest and most layered expression of the unique terroir found in Knights Valley.
The 2014 Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon opens with vivid aromas of rich, ripe blackberry fruit, espresso, lavender and subtle licorice spice. The mouthfeel is plush with a very firm structure. This versatile wine has supple blueberry and black berry fruit notes accented by dark chocolate and a lingering, smooth finish.
Beringer’s Three Acre Red Blend comes primarily from Knights Valley, a vineyard that Beringer has owned and farmed since the mid-1960’s, when the Beringer family recognized that the cobbley, rocky alluvial soils were a great place to grow high quality wine grapes. This wine shows bright red fruit aromas and notes of strawberry and plum. The silky tannins are accented by hints of mocha and a smooth finish.
