About This Wine
WINEMAKING
Each of our vineyard lots is picked and kept separate when brought into the winery at Harvest, to ensure that we maintain the unique qualities of each vineyard and the terroir it brings to the blend. After the grapes were sent directly to press where the juice was gently extracted, Laurie fermented the 2010 Riesling in stainless steel tanks to maintain the vibrant, fresh characteristics of the varietal. The blend underwent malolactic fermentation to provide a lush mouthfeel which balances the wine’s fresh fruit characteristics. The wine is 85% Riesling and 15% Muscat, which lends rich floral notes to the final blend.
VINTAGE & VINEYARDS
The 2010 growing season was long and mild with ideal temperatures for even ripening. A mild spring and summer was accented by a heat spike at the end of August, which expedited ripening in the grapes and helped deliver a harvest of good quality and quantity.
Beringer’s Modern Heritage Riesling comes from vineyards spanning several sub-appellations in the Napa Valley. Those vineyards in northern end of the Valley provide grapes with rich, tropical notes while the vineyards in the southern end contribute grapes with great acidity and refreshing qualities.
WINEMAKER'S NOTES
Aromas of orange blossom, pear and ginger are complemented by flavors of stone fruit, and orange zest. A slight spicy note of white ginger lingers into the finish on this refreshing, fruit forward blend that is ideal for sipping on a warm day or evening.
