Distinctive quality that can only be created from the rustic, unspoiled vineyards and unique alluvial soils that make up Sonoma’s Knights Valley. Located 17 miles northwest of the winery, the Knights Valley vineyard has volcanic, well-drained soils that are perfectly suited to Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Sémillon.
The 2008 Meritage has aromas of baked cherry and plums, candied violets and cinnamon. It is marked by a ripe, generous palette of plum spices and mocha, rounded out by a lush, lingering finish.
The 2010 Meritage is brimming with dark red and black fruits – black cherry, red cherry and ripe Santa Rosa plum. Sweet barrel spices such as nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon mingle with the fruit on the palate along with a hint of French lavender.
This is a well-integrated wine with a full, fleshy mouthfeel and flavors that really explode in the mouth. A crowd pleaser.
Bursting with black, bright fruit characteristics and caramel notes, the wine leads with vanilla, toffee and graphite followed by blackberry, white peppercorn, and roasted coffee. It has a saturated color, dense texture and chewy, layered tannins.
This wine leans toward melon and stone fruit flavors – apricot, peach and pear – picking up a floral component on the sweet mid-palate. Delicate oak notes of vanilla and brown sugar add to the rich mouthfeel, with an intriguing mineral component that keeps the wine fresh and bright. This is a rich, creamy yet well-balanced wine, with a long, juicy finish that begs for another sip.
The 2011 Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of ripe blueberry, blackberry, maple and nutmeg. Notes of currants, sassafras, and bright red fruits emerge from a dense core of fruit, accented by juicy acidity and a pretty finish.
