90+ Point Wines

93 POINTS, Wine Advocate

"Our Bancroft Merlot has aromas of ripe blue fruits and nutmeg. Plush tannins, a distinctly robust structure and complexity make this an extraordinary example of this varietal. Its refined tannins and depth of flavor mark it out as one of our finest vintages. ..." March 2016

"One of the great efforts of recent years, and not surprisingly so, is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve. The wine could benefit from 7-10 years cellaring and probably last 30 to 40. When all is said and done, this is an instant classic, the wine full-bodied with oodles of crème de cassis, pen ink, graphite and baking spices. It is multi-dimensional, layered, and one of the all-time great Beringer Private Reserves – and there have been many."

"Graphite, smoke, inky blue/purplish fruit, wild flowers and lavender meld together to form an attractive mélange of aromas and flavors."

"Dark, sumptuous and racy, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Chabot Vineyard is all about texture. This is one of the more voluptuous wines in the Beringer range. As such, it will drink nicely right out of the gate. The radiant, expressive finish is striking in its immediacy, but there is plenty of finesse and nuance here as well."

92 Points Wine Advocate, October 2014

Howell Mountain is also the home for Beringer’s single vineyard Cabernet Franc, long a favorite in the Rhine House tasting room by staff and customers of many years. The 2012 Cabernet Franc comes from Bancroft Ranch, and demonstrates the intensity and concentration of flavors resulting from Bancroft’s restrictive soils and unique microclimates. The 2012 Bancroft Ranch Cabernet Franc was harvested on October 30th and was aged for 16 months in 80% new French oak barrels.
