About This Wine
VINEYARDS The 2010 growing season was long and mild with ideal temperatures for even ripening. A mild spring and summer was accented by a heat spike at the end of August, which expedited ripening in the grapes and helped deliver a harvest of good quality and quantity.
Beringer’s Modern Heritage Rosé comes from two of Beringer’s longtime vineyards: Big Ranch vineyard and Stanly Ranch vineyard. Big Ranch is located in Oakville on the valley floor, providing grapes of rich concentration and fruit intensity. Beringer’s Stanly Ranch vineyard in Carneros benefits from the cooling breezes of the San Pablo Bay, which help preserve the grapes’ acidity and encourage slow ripening.
WINEMAKING Each of our vineyard lots is picked and kept separate when brought into the winery at Harvest, to ensure that we maintain the unique qualities of each vineyard and the terroir it brings to the blend. After the grapes were sent directly to press where the juice was gently extracted, Laurie fermented the 2010 Rosé in stainless steel tanks to maintain the vibrant, berry notes in this unique varietal. The style was accentuated by arrested fermentation and saignée of the tanks, resulting in a concentrated, fruit-forward Rosé. The 2010 Modern Heritage Rosé is primarily Pinot Noir with small percentages of Merlot, Zinfandel and Cabernet for additional structure and depth.
