About This Wine
WINEMAKING
Each of our vineyard lots is picked and kept separate when brought into the winery at Harvest, to ensure that we maintain the unique qualities of each vineyard and the terroir it brings to the blend. Upon harvest, the grapes were brought into the winery where they were gently pressed. Fermentation in French oak barrels (22% new) for 14 months highlighted the spice notes and complemented the fine but persistent tannins. The final blend of the 2010 3 Acre is 92% Sangiovese and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Beringer’s Modern Heritage Red Blend comes entirely from Knights Valley, a vineyard that Beringer has owned and farmed its Knights Valley vineyards since the mid-1960’s, when the Beringer family recognized that the cobbley, rocky alluvial soils were a great place to grow high quality wine grapes. The Knights Valley designation was first used on a Beringer label in 1974. Beringer was instrumental in garnering official recognition for the area in 1983 as a premier wine growing region in the form of its own American Viticulture Area (AVA) designation.
WINEMAKER'S NOTES
Aromas of cranberry and sweet pastry are followed by notes of white pepper, pomegranate, and spiced raspberries. A hint of orange rind and subtle brown spices carries into a round, plush fruit core and pleasing finish.
